I picked Helsinki as my destination on a crazy business class sale because it was a good hub for using British Airways Avios.In the end, the availability wasn’t there that I wanted for a comfortable trip. Helsinki is situated in a good location for a ferry ride to Tallinn, Estonia and St. Petersburg, Russia.
I found this out after my trip: You can enter Russia without a visa for up to 72 hours if you take a ferry from Helsinki. I’ll have to try this next time.
Back to Helsinki. They have a strong economy so even coming from the US, it’s pricey. I only spent two nights there because of the prices and I really wanted to spend more time in Estonia.
Helsinki is super clean and beautiful! The architecture is very modern and they have paths dedicated to bicyclists and pedestrians.
