Hotels and even hostels are very expensive in Iceland. If you’re staying in Reykjavik, that’s a 40-minute drive to the airport. And if you have an early flight, it’s even more challenging. Many people choose to sleep at Iceland KEF airport and it’s not a problem.
Update 2019: Wow Air is no longer in service. Wow! This flight was budget. I got a one-way ticket from Los Angeles to Dublin (with a 19 hour layover in Iceland) for $330. That price included seat selection (7A window seat), priority boarding and a carry-on bag.
Priority Pass: Get access to airport lounges with many different credit cards. These credit cards will typically have an annual free, but some will have no annual fee for the first year. Having access to a lounge before a flight makes the stress of travel much more relaxing.
After booking my flight from [Okinawa to Nagasaki using frequent flyer miles], I was ready to take my 90-minute direct flight. If you’re leaving Okinawa, get to the airport early! The airport is small and doesn’t have many gates so the lines are long and slow.
If you’re planning on taking public transportation in Okinawa, be prepared to not have your IC cards from Tokyo work. Okinawa has its own system and limited lines.
