It’s New Year’s Eve and there are MANY people already taking claim over viewing spots at 9:30am.  I stayed at the Pier One Hotel and the only way to get there is to take the train to Circular Quay station and then walk for 10-15

From Katoomba Station it is roughly a 30-minute walk to the Blue Mountains.  Once you get there, it’s all mountains, hiking trails and tourists.  There’s several buses and tour buses that will get you there but we opted for the walk.

To get to Katoomba from Sydney, you’ll need to start your journey at Central Station.  There, you’ll find the Katoomba line that will get you there in about two hours for $5.60 AUD.  This is a great deal considering the distance.  The seats were clean/comfortable

They close down the streets in the main shopping area in Sydney on December 26 for Boxing Day.  This is the biggest shopping day of the year (on par with Black Friday in the U.S.) with the biggest sales.
